I'm Still All About that Bass....

Hey MUSICAL THEATRE PEEPS! YOUR CALLBACK INFORMATION (audition songs) WILL BE POSTED HERE ON THIS BLOG BY FRIDAY EVENING!
Well, really no. I'm all about you being successful! And again, welcome to the new school year! We have launched head on into our learning. Our freshmen are working on personal narratives; our juniors are working on the theme "The American Dream".
DANCE:Dance students, please remember to complete your SURVEY and make sure you have gone through the PPT on Planes and Axes. Also dance students, remember that your study guide for Dance Anatomy chapter 1 is due FRIDAY, September 18th (this Friday) 2015. It is a 100 point assignment. You will lose 25 points each day it is late. I am under the assumption that you will complete it and turn it in on time. You will receive Chapter 2 and your second study guide on MONDAY.
On another note: DANCE STUDENTS remember it is a REQUIREMENT for you to audition for the musical. I look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces on stage doing your thang!
English 9:
9th Grade English students, please make sure you have taken your SURVEY and written your letter (see previous post). We will continue to work on our narrative unit as we analyze text and write about it. It's a lot of work but it will make our OWN writing so much better. I look forward to reading yoru analyses and your written work! Remember, your 5 Analyses are DUE Monday 9-21-15.

American Literature:
11th Grade American Literature students, you also have taken your SURVEY. We will continue to work on "The American Dream" and discover reading strategies that help us work with difficult text.

Hello Students!
I'm so happy to have you in my class for the 2015-2016 school year! This is such an exciting time. I can promise you will learn so much by next June. I already have lots of fun and interesting lessons, activities and projects planned for us during the upcoming months. This year your writing skills will improve beyond what you can imagine.
Dance Students: YES! I really am teaching dance and I really have been trained - like for years in this art form. I have my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in dance and I have danced in several dance companies across the USA as well as had my own dance company. I have been taking classes lately at TU Dance and at ZENON dance company and school.
So, you can imagine, I want to get us up and MOVING! Expect to sweat... or at least have fun!
9th Grade English Students: YES ALL OF YOU! Here is your first bit of homework! I would like you to write a letter to me introducing yourself and bring it to class sometime in the first week. Follow these steps:

- In the first section, tell me about your family.
- Next, tell me about three different things: what you really like about school, what you want to learn this year and what you would like to improve. (Don't worry--we all have something we can improve on!)
- Thirdly, tell me what you like to do for fun. What are your hobbies, what sports do you like to play, or instruments or what... just WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO?
- In the last paragraph, ask me any questions you might have for me about the school year.

11th Grade: You can CHILL! We will do a lot of preliminary community building right in class.
I am so excited for the school year! I hope you are ready to work and learn!
Dr. Palmen
